DiMaggio’s Tratoria is truly a remarkable project when considering the possibilites that an architect can achieve when facing the restrictons of a smaller scale project with a limited budget. Located along Port Washing-ton Boulevard, one may think that a small Italian restaurant could become lost in the mix, however, as one can see from the facade of the building, the front elevaton is an invitng, and intriguing design. The front porton of the restaurant has a moderate sized eatng area with basic restaurant amenites. This however sets up a short procession through a passageway into a true piazza style eatng enviornment. With the ability to provide a two story space, the architect was able to create a traditonal piazza mimicking the building facades, iron railings, fresco paintngs and marble floors of Italy.
