The most unique of proposals for the office of James Thomas Martno lies in 890 Park Avenue in Manhatan. A residental type walkup building that was constructed in 1924, this approximate 9,000 square foot brownstone sits between two relatvely gigantc pre-war apart-ment buildings. 890 Park Avenue serves as a visual breath of fresh air by having its own character and design. The existng façade consists of a mixture of rustcated masonry at the lower porton of the facade with delicate brick veneer detailing extending up approximately four stories and terminatng with the high peaks of the gable slate roof. By viewing the brownstone in secton, you see large windows adorn the street facade and allow for light to pour through the building. It was the intenton of the owner/developer to restore this brownstone to its previous grandeur while renovatng the interiors to accomodate a wealthy New York City family with today’s amenites.
