« Previous Page Table of Contents Next Page »The proposed 150,000 square foot, 15,000 seat Jakarta Soccer Stadium brings forth a design that atempts to seek on two fronts a structure of immense size with sleekness and visual intrigue. The exterior of the stadium glides along in a circuitous manor with screens projectng images along with vines grow-ing along the edges of each level . The horizontal levels of the stadium terminate with a pedestrian promenade and a uniqely flexible roof structure. The roof retracts in sectons, but also serves as a canopy that arcs over the upper level seatng area to provide protecton from inclimate weather. In secton, these two different design and functonal elements come together to form a sectonal template that rivals many other great stadiums. The curves of the building facade mirror the sleek-ness of the curved retractable roof by complementng each other as the top and botom of the sectonal template. The interior void space sttches together the subsequent floors and equally divides the circulaton areas from the viewing areas.
