Ching is a submission that seeks to create a memorial to the history of the terrorist atacks on 9/11 that is both public and deeply personal. This memorial’s strength is based upon the commemoraton of the World Trade Center Twin Towers. The memorial leads visitors through a procession that would encounter 110 illuminated plaques (symbolizing the 110 stories) through the streets and adjacent park. This procession would lead the visitors on a historical journey culminatng at the water’s edge with a recycling water display by two NYFD Fire Boats delineatng the approximate shadow of the World Trade Center on that fateful morning. As the visitor to this memorial meanders through the streets of lower Manhatan in search of these illuminated plaques, it will provide for contemplaton and reflecton for each of the stories.
